Abstract
Rereading the components of civilization, then limited to Islamic constraints, is possible in the context of a religious perspective. Part of this religious perspective can be sought in the prayers left by Imam Sajjad(p.b.u.o.h). Since the discussion of the components of civilization is associated with social issues and the reproduction of power relations, critical discourse analysis of these texts can help in the systematic reading of these components and their analysis.Therefore, in the present study, using a descriptive-analytical method, we analyzed the discourse of the components of Islamic civilization in the supplications of Imam Sajjad (p.b.u.o.h) based on the Fairclough model. We have analyzed this at the three levels of description, interpretation, and explanation in order to achieve a new understanding of the surrounding discourse by considering the existing political and social structures in the context of which the text was created. The results obtained at three levels showed that the central signifier of the discourse produced in the supplications of Imam Sajjad(p.b.u.o.h) in determining the components of Islamic civilization is monotheism, which forms the macro-dipole of God-centeredness and anthropocentrism. The speaker of the discourse has attempted to explain his intended discourse in contrast to the existing situational context and to create a new form of social relations by redefining the value, moral, and belief systems. Although there was no objective change in power relations, due to the latent ideological burden of the discourse, Hazrat is trying to guide the discursive participants towards a new position of power relations.
